Why an estimate isn't a shopping list
Estimates are priced by scope operation, not by SKU. A single line like "1/2\" drywall — hung, taped, floated" implies board, mud, tape, screws, and corner bead — none of which appear as a purchasable item. Multiply that across dozens of rooms and the buyout is easy to under-order.
TrueTakeoff explodes each scope line into its materials, then sums identical items across every room so counts are complete — the small consumables that usually get missed are on the list.
