Frequently asked
- How do you calculate drywall square footage?
- Add the wall area (perimeter × ceiling height) to the ceiling area (length × width) for each room. This calculator does it for you and applies a waste factor.
- How many sheets of drywall do I need?
- Divide the total drywall area (with waste) by the sheet size — 32 SF for a 4×8, 48 SF for a 4×12. Round up.
- How much joint compound and tape?
- As a rule of thumb, about one box of all-purpose compound per ~500 SF and roughly 370 linear feet of tape per 1,000 SF of board.
